Those Proud to be Republican

My sincere thanks and humble appreciation to all those who helped me run for the Republican nomination for DuPage County Board Chairman; and I bow to those who listened intently to our message. My unsuccessful campaign reminded me of the Will Rogers quote: “You’ve got to go out on a limb sometimes because that’s where the fruit is.” While we could not reach the fruit (this time), it was gratifying that the winner has adopted my calls for a County Administrator (hopefully with reductions in our Chairman's salary) and for a need to consolidate county government to increase efficiencies with a contracting revenue stream. Imitation is the best form of flattery.
I discovered during this campaign that DuPage County is a large landscape of diverse people with different needs. But they also all want DuPage to be a very special place to live, work and raise their families. Our legislators deliberately handcuffed the candidates at all levels by mandating the only winter primary in the country. I nonetheless will continue to look for venues and opportunities to pull our state out the deep depths of fiscal irresponsibility and entrenched incumbents. No state needs terms limits and accountability more than Illinois. Remember: “If you do not stand up for something, you will fall for anything.”
Let’s stand up for better government and new leaders this November. As for this campaign, as another famous MJ crooned: “You can’t always get what you want, but if try, sometimes you get what you need.”
An Open Letter to all DuPage County Voters

Dear Dupage County Voter,
I am asking for your vote and support in the Republican primary for DuPage County Board Chairman.
As the Mayor of Burr Ridge, a member of the DuPage County Board of Health since 1999, a former Downers Grove Township Republican Committeeman, and a lawyer, I have the education, training, professional and municipal executive experience, and accomplishments to be the next Chairman. My wife Janet and I have been married for 31 years and have raised six great children in DuPage County.
